Six-Day Gorillas and Chimpanzee Habituation

This 6 days Uganda Adventure Safari starts and ends in Entebbe International Airport. Meet eye to eye with the amazing gorillas of Uganda in their natural habitat, one of Africa's major highlights. This close encounter with these amazing apes is simply breathtaking.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Entebbe

Meet and greet at Entebbe International Airport where your Uganda Adventure Safari starts by our representative who will warmly welcome you and facilitate seamless arrival formalities. Your will then be transferred to a restuarant for breakfast hotel where you will be briefed about your adventure safari.

Depending on the time of arrival you are advised to have money Changed on this day ,If time allowing you may go for a city tour. All activities today are at your own cost. You may visit the botanical gardens at a supplement of $10 per person or visit the Uganda Wildlife Educational centre at supplement of $15 per pesrson or go for a cheese and wine sundowner on Lake Victoria at a supplement of $85 per person.

Day 2 - Kibale Forest National Park

Arise early morning park your bags and after breakfast transfer to Kibale National Park following the mystical Rwenzori mountain range.Kibale Forest National Park is reputed to have the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. The most famous of its 13 species is the Chimpanzee, our closest relative. Kibale 1450 Chimpanzee represent Uganda’s largest population of this endangered primate. Kibale is also a home to the rare I’Hoest’s monkey. Other primates include the black and white Colobus, Blue monkey, Grey cheeked mangabey, Red tailed monkey, Olive baboon to mention but a few.

Arrive in time for a late lunch. OR take a walk around the crater lakes at a supplement of $20 per person OR Canoeing at the lake at a supplement of $25 per person OR Go cycling around the crater lakes or tea estates at a supplement of $25 per person, kayaking at $90 per person per hour

Day 3 - Kibale Forest National Park

Early in the morning have breakfast at 5am, you will set off for Chimpanzee Habituation tracking(starts at 6am). You will be led by a forest guide who will help you identify the various tree species, as well as inform you of the various features in the forest. You will be able to interact with the researchers and vets (if availiable)

This will take all day and you will be 100% sure to have a very close encounter with your closest relatives. Book this in time because only 6 persons per day are allowed to go. You will go with a packed lunch since you will spend the whole day with our close cousins the whole day.

Day 4 - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After your an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Bwindi. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley. Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, dating back over 25,000 years and contain almost 400 species of plants. More famously, this “impenetrable forest” is home to half of the remaining Mountain Gorillas in the world. You will arrive at the lodge in time for a late lunch. You may opt to go for Optional activities at the lodge

Located in southwestern Uganda, the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is said to be Africa’s oldest rainforest. It is world-renowned for its excellent gorilla-sighting opportunities. The rugged landscape features dense jungle, cascading waterfalls, sparkling mountain streams, deep valleys and steep ridges. This untouched forest has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its breathtaking natural beauty and unique ecological significance. Aside from the amazing gorilla interactions, there are other drawcards such as a network of forest walks, over 340 species of bird to spot and a variety of butterflies. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the spectacular Virunga Volcanoes.

Day 5 - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early breakfast, move into the forest and start trekking the mountain gorillas. Coming face to face with the largest primates is a memorable adventurous experience that can never be forgotten. Gorilla Habituation in Bwindi involves trekking up steep muddy and densely forested slopes so it may require some level of fitness. - the only forest in Africa which can make this claim. It also hosts five other species of primate, 113 species of mammal, over 200 butterflies and 360 birds. The gorillas you trek belong to one of nine habituated family groups who can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day.
The time taken to trek the gorillas can be as few as 3 hours to as many as 7 hours. Once the gorillas have been located, your group will be allowed a maximum of 4 hours with them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience.

Return to the lodge where you will enjoy dinner with your fellow travelers before getting a good night’s rest for tomorrow's safari adventure.

Day 6 - End of Itinerary

After a very early breakfast , you will be transferred to Entebbe international Airport to catch your flight to your next destination. Later You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time. Take some photos, then another stop over at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers where you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through the generations arriving in the afternoon.( Your flight should late in the evening)

Alternatively you may opt to fly to Entebbe Airport at a supplement of $353 per person. You arrive in Entebbe at 11:35am so you are able to catch your afternoon flight.

Or

You would fly out from Kigali International Airport. Its 4 hours drive to Kigali, the supplement would be $200( Fuel, Border crossing for the vehicle, guide's expenses, parking fees)
